Rassawek is a unique event venue steeped in local lore, where old buildings and materials from the region otherwise slated for demolition are salvaged from the wrecking ball and relocated, repurposed and rebuilt. We hold large festivals, weddings, smaller unique hands-on classes and overnight stays.
The property is named “Rassawek” in honor of the Monacan Indians believed to have had a series of camps that stretched out along the James River. Once our family purchased the land, we set to work planting a vineyard and reclaiming structures for the enjoyment of future generations.
Our passion for growing grapes stems from our love of wine and the aesthetics they lend to the landscape. Growing began in 2004, with Norton grapes and a few years later we planted Chardonnay grapes around the Cherokee cabin. Our grapes are sold to local wineries.
With panoramic views of the river, and multiple buildings salvaged and reconstructed with attention to detail and an an eye for authenticity – we are an ideal venue for your next celebration or retreat.
