CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (February 2005) – Sunday, February 6 at the Omni, 10-4 a popular local magazine, AlbemarleFamily.com hosted their first annual Fun Fair & Camp Expo. The event drew a tremendous crowd with over 2,000 people in attendance to learn more about residential camps from all over the east coast as well as local businesses serving families.
At the event, the AlbemarleFamily Education Counts Drawing raised $1984.00 which will be donated to Murray Elementary!!! This money was raised through ticket sales to the Expo. The lucky winning child had his name drawn at random is Ethan Sewell who received a $500.00 college savings bond and his school, Murray Elementary which will receive a check for $1984.00 from AlbemarleFamily.com.
Among the OVER 80 wonderful exhibitors providing cool activities & giveaways to make this a full and exciting day were St. Anne’s Belfield, Camp Blue Ridge, Wintergreen Resort, Pennsylvania State Science Camp, and many others Generous sponsors ACAC, Barracks Road Shopping Center, NBC29 and Z-95 were also in attendance with great activities (NBC on-air talent were there signing autographs in the afternoon)!
The first 200 school-age children received a super-hip Lance Armstrong “LIVE STRONG” band as a gift from AlbemarleFamily, too as well as passes for the amazing 26ft ACAC bungee run and a pony ride.
At 11am Gary Hoffman, a certified college planning specialist gave the keynote address for parents on “how to fund college without bankrupting your retirement.” Throughout the afternoon the Albemarle Family Theatre drew crowds for performances including Mr. Magic, a taekwondo demonstration, a terrific hands-on reptile program, and much, much, more!
