The innovative Common Wealth Crush Co. in the newest resident of the renovated historic Virginia Metalcrafters factory. Open since early spring, the chic tasting room and custom crush facility is an urban showroom for some of Virginia’s most creative winemakers. Lee Campbell, a partner in the venture with Patrick Eagan and well-known Virginia winemakers Ben and Tim Jordan, is the head of tasting room operations. Campbell, a certified sommelier and wine consultant originally from New York City, said CWC’s ethos centers on the future for Virginia winemakers—sustainability, low-intervention and exploration with unexpected European and hybrid grapes. “We want our space to be a place where we can unabashedly celebrate these approaches,” says Campbell.
