A highly respected member of the Virginia Wine Industry, founder Patrick Duffeler has retired, handing the reins of The Williamsburg Winery to Dr. Michael Weatherly, owner of Ecco Adesso Vineyards in the Shenandoah Valley. “This succession is 40 years in the making,” said Duffeler, “and I am honored to leave the next chapter of The Williamsburg Winery to Michael…I have complete confidence that the winery will flourish under his leadership.” Weatherly has been a shareholder, board member and long-time customer of The Williamsburg Winery and mentee of Duffeler when he and his family opened Ecco Adesso in Fairfield. Weatherly’s close relationship with the talented team at The Williamsburg Winery will make an easy transition into the future for the venerable wine estate.
