The UVA University Singers, conducted by Michael Slon, join the orchestra for the second half of the program. Works include Equus by Eric Whitacre, (equus is Latin for “horse”); Jennifer Higdon’s O magnum mysterium, a clever setting of the traditional text in both Latin and English; and a cantata for tenor and chamber orchestra based on psalm texts, I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes by Adolphus Hailstork.
