About Virginia Fresh Match
The Virginia Fresh Match program allows low-income families to shop fresh quality foods from their local farmers market or participating groceries who carry locally grown produce by doubling the value of Virginia’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food stamps.
For every SNAP dollar spent, the program matches it. So, recipients who purchase ONE freshly picked tomato at the local farmers market will instead get TWO. Both the shopper and small farmer will benefit, and all-around, the local community and economy wins.

Located in the stunning Virginia countryside, the vineyards of the Blue Ridge Mountain foothills are being showcased by Wine & Country Life—a luxury lifestyle magazine and sophisticated farm-to-table shop. In this, our first cookbook, we introduce you to this spectacular region, its people and its soulful, yet elegant, farm-to-table cuisine, and all for a good cause—feeding local businesses, farmers and people.

This will cover the cost of bringing the book to the community so that 100% of the proceeds from the sale of it can be donated to the Virginia Fresh Match program of the Virginia Farmers Market Association, a program that gives low-income families equitable access to fresh, locally grown foods at local farmers markets. When these families can often only afford poor quality foods, this program is an extraordinary investment in our community’s physical and economic health at a time when it’s needed most. With the sale of all 5,000 copies scheduled to print, the book will raise $75,000 for this worthy cause, allowing the entire community to benefit.
